Frank Shayi

FRANK SHAYI came over from South Africa with his family to train at Trinity College Bristol from 1986 - 1988.  During this time he and his wife, Maria, and their 4 young children worshipped at Redland.  The older children, Blessing, Gregory and Philadelphia, attended local schools, while the youngest, Patience, was at home with Maria.

From 1988-1998 Frank worked with Scripture Union as National Field Director SU South Africa.  He then switched roles and headed up work at the Ikemeleng Youth Centre in Alexandra Township  near Johannesburg, catering for poor children needing opportunity to learn basic computer skills.  The Centre also runs a Bible Club and SU Outreach Camps. Frank was also Deputy Secretary for the Southern Sub-Region of S U Africa and was responsible for the development of SU in 4 of the 9 countries - Swaziland, Botswana, Lesotho and Mozambique.

He is now the Principal of the International College of Bible and Mission in Johannesburg. This college offers training on both a full time and a part time basis and Frank has been seeking to secure the long term future of both the building and, more importantly, the faculty and student body. In July 2007 they were enabled through gifts to purchase the building.  Frank wrote: "You should have seen the students when the news was announced"!

Frank also pastors a church in Soweto that meets in a school.
