The re:new project to redevelop the church halls for church and community use, involved demolishing the church's dilapidated main hall and replacing it with three modern and versatile interconnected halls. Work started in August 2015 and was completed and the new halls opened in October 2016.
The new halls are revitalising our own community activities like Lantern Preschool, our toddler groups and the Redland Education Centre; and they also offer much improved facilities to the many local people and community groups that use our halls.
There are other benefits too - the new building is much more sustainable than the old hall, it includes renewable energy, and it is better insulated, so benefiting the environment and our nearest neighbours.
Designed by Redland-based architects O’Leary Goss, the development has created three interconnected halls - each capable of meeting a wide range of needs. They are able to be opened up to form one large 280-seater hall for church and community use.
The redevelopment also included replacing the existing 1950s kitchen with a new commercial-standard kitchen. New toilet facilities and facilities for Lantern Preschool have been provided and a welcome/ refreshment area created in the foyer.
